Premium tiers

Righteous sells four things, and two of them are confused with each other often enough to cost people money. Start with the sentence that settles it:

The bot purchase keeps Righteous in your server. Server Premium unlocks features inside it. Neither one ever grants the other.

A server with premium and no purchase does not keep the bot. A server that bought the bot has every free feature and no premium ones. If you have paid and something is still refusing you, this is almost always why.

The four products

Three of these are premium tiers: they unlock features. The fourth is a door: it decides whether the bot may be in your server at all.

These are not a ladder. Buying Self Premium does not give your server Server Premium, and boosting does not give you Self Premium.

Boosting Premium: free

Boost the support server (opens in a new tab) and you hold this for as long as the boost lasts. There is nothing to buy and nothing to redeem.

It covers snipe, lyrics, voice-channel activities, the Juice WRLD archive, the wider Last.fm commands (genres, decades, countries, obscurity, the listening clock), full-length WhoKnows and top lists instead of the first page, OCR, comics, and your own self-prefix.

It is a live state, not a subscription. Move your boost and you lose it the same day.

Self Premium: bought by one member

Tied to your Discord account, so it follows you into every server the bot is in. This is the tier that buys the personal Last.fm surface (a custom now-playing embed, your own colour and reactions, your own trigger word, a full scrobble history sync and a CSV export of it) plus Spotify controls, profile banners, the economy boost, and voice-channel presets with a personal trust and block list.

Self Premium includes everything Boosting Premium gives. The reverse is not true: boosting a server does not unlock a single Self Premium feature.

Server Premium: bought for a server

Gates the guild, not the member. Every member of a Server Premium server passes its gates, including members who have never paid for anything, and it stays with the server when people come and go.

It buys the server-wide things: more concurrent giveaways, booster roles, per-server command aliases, sticky and scheduled messages, GitHub, Twitter and Letterboxd feeds and Live Feeds for Twitch and Kick (including posting them under a custom name and picture, or under the followed account's own), bot appearance customisation, server-wide Last.fm defaults and crown controls, log webhook branding, and 24/7 voice presence.

The bot purchase: a door, not a tier

Righteous is not open to every server. A server has to be granted access before the bot will stay in it, and the bot purchase is how that is bought. It unlocks no features at all: a server with the purchase and no premium has exactly the free feature set.

Work out which tier a command wants

A command's reference page carries a badge when it declares a tier, and the badges use the same three names as above. Two rules turn a badge into an answer:

• A "Premium" badge means any premium. Boosting is enough, and so is being a member of a Server Premium server.
• "Self Premium" means a purchase. Boosting does not satisfy it, and neither does being in a Server Premium server, with a handful of documented exceptions where a command accepts either a personal purchase or the server's.

Some features carry no badge at all because they are checked when you use them rather than declared on the command. Those are listed in Features that need premium but don't say so, which is worth reading before you buy anything.

Buy, redeem, or manage what you already have

,donate prints all three tiers with their perks and prices, and carries a row of buttons underneath.

Redeem a code

,redeem <code>

,redeem RGHT-XXXX-XXXX

,redeem applies a code in place and deletes your message, so the code is not left sitting in the channel. It needs no premium of its own: it is how you get premium.

Codes are not all the same thing. Some grant a premium tier, some grant a server's access, and some are time-limited in exactly the way a trial is. A code granting server access is bound to a specific server when it is created, so run it and read what it says rather than guessing which kind you hold. Most codes are single-use.

Manage or cancel a subscription

The Manage subscription button on the ,donate card in the support server opens the billing portal, which is where a card is updated and a subscription is cancelled. Payments are handled by Stripe; Righteous never sees a card number.

What happens when a tier lapses

Losing a tier is not the same as pausing it, and the difference is worth knowing before you cancel.

Some settings are wiped

On the transition out of a paid tier, a specific set of personal Last.fm settings is cleared, not merely disabled:

• your Last.fm colour, and the colour mode
• your upvote, downvote and midvote reactions
• your reactions toggle
• your custom Last.fm trigger word (,lf cc)

These are gone rather than parked. Resubscribing gives you the features back with the defaults, and you set them again. Each one is a single word or a single emote, which is exactly why these are the ones that get cleared.

Some settings survive, inert

Anything expensive to recreate is left in place and simply stops taking effect:

• your custom now-playing embed code, which can be long and is real work: it survives, and the built-in embed renders instead
• your timezone, scrobble timestamps setting and auto-update interval
• your synced scrobble history
• a server's command aliases, voice presets and trust and block lists

All of these start working again the moment the tier comes back, with nothing to re-enter.

Common issues

You bought premium and the bot still will not stay in your server. Those are different purchases. Premium unlocks features; the bot purchase buys access. See Access and the whitelist.

You bought the bot and a command still says it needs premium. Same distinction, other direction. The purchase unlocks no features.

You boost the support server but a command says it needs premium. It wants Self Premium, which is a purchase. Boosting satisfies the plain "Premium" gate only.

You hold Self Premium but a server feature is refused. Server Premium gates the guild. A personal purchase cannot unlock a server-wide feature for a server that has not bought it.

,donate shows no buy buttons. You are not in the support server. Run it there: everywhere else the card carries My premium and nothing else.

Your Last.fm colour and reactions reset themselves. Self Premium lapsed. Those are the settings cleared on the way out; set them again once it is renewed.
