What Righteous does, what it needs from you, and which guide to read first.
Righteous is a general-purpose Discord bot. Protection, moderation, Last.fm, tickets, voice channels, music and logging all live in the same app, configured from the same panel. This page is the short version: what's in it, how to talk to it, and what it needs from you before any of it works.

Righteous is one bot doing several jobs rather than a single-purpose tool. If you already run a dedicated logging bot or a dedicated music bot, the overlap is real and worth knowing about now.

Run a command two ways
Every command has a prefix form. Most of the ones you'll use for setup also have a slash form. The gates are identical on both. Prefix and slash commands covers why the two surfaces exist and where their coverage differs.
The slash form
Slash commands are the safer instruction to follow. Type / in any channel, pick the command, and
Discord shows you the options as you fill them in. Nothing about a slash command changes from server
to server.
The prefix form
The prefix form is faster once you know it. This site writes every prefix example with the default
,, so ,help and /help do the same thing. Any server can change its prefix, so a command
written ,setup here might be !setup in yours.
/prefix list reports what your server answers to, and
changing it needs Manage Server. Both are covered in
First five minutes.
Examples on this site use the default
Every command written with a comma is showing you the default prefix, not a fact about your server. The slash form is the one that's true everywhere.
A brand-new server does not answer to `,` yet
Out of the box Righteous ships listening for the double comma ,, and the two words jason
and righteous. So in a server that has never changed anything, ,help does nothing and
,,help, jason help and righteoushelp all work. That is the single most common reason the
bot looks dead in a server where it is fine.
Run ,,prefix set , once and every prefix example on
this site works verbatim. That needs Manage Server. The two word prefixes stay put when you
change the symbol, which makes them a reliable way back in if nobody remembers what it was changed
to. ,prefix reset puts the shipped defaults back.

The command reference is the same information as a linkable page. Each command gets its permissions, its cooldown, its aliases, every subcommand, and whether a slash form exists. Guides link into it constantly, so you can read a walkthrough and check exact syntax without leaving the page.
A few features are gated when you run them rather than declared on the command, so they carry no badge on either surface. Those are collected in Features that need premium but don't say so.
Know what it needs from you
Three things, in this order.
Manage Server, in the server you're adding it to
That's Discord's requirement for adding any bot, not something Righteous imposes. Discord's own server picker hides servers where you don't have it.
Access for that server
Righteous isn't open to every server. One that hasn't been granted access doesn't keep the bot, and it leaves again within seconds of joining. This catches people out at the worst possible moment, so it has its own guide.
Access is not the same purchase as premium, and the names are close enough to cost people money. Premium tiers draws the line.
