Staff roles

Mark your moderator and staff roles, so a punishment can strip them and a filter exemption can follow them.

The staff list is a set of roles Righteous can take away from someone or exempt from message filters. It grants nothing. Every command here is server owner only, and a fake permission can't get anyone past that.

Mark your staff roles

Give ,staff add a role by mention, name or ID. The slash form is /staff add.

Syntax

,staff add <role>

Example

,staff add @Moderator

The role must sit below the bot's highest role, and @everyone is refused. A role level with the bot's top role is accepted but can't be stripped later, so keep staff roles strictly below it.

Adding a staff role can exempt people from filters

If staff is on the filter whitelist, everyone holding a listed role skips the filters that entry covers (all of them, unless you scoped it). Adding a role exempts its holders at once, and removing it ends that. Check the whitelist before you add a broad role.

See or change the list

CommandDoes
Shows the roles, with a deleted role marked as gone
Takes one role off, including a role that was deleted from the server
Empties the list and says how many roles it removed

Strip a member's staff roles by hand

,stripstaff removes every listed role the bot can manage from that member and leaves their other roles alone.

Syntax

,stripstaff <member>

Example

,stripstaff @Riley

It needs a non-empty list and Manage Roles. Roles above the bot's highest role, and roles managed by an integration, are skipped, and the reply says how many.

What reads the list

WhereWhat it does with the list
An anti-nuke rule set to ++punish stripstaff
Strips the listed roles from whoever tripped the rule. This is the default for the emote rule
A message filter punishment of stripstaff
Strips the same roles from whoever broke the filter
Exempts everyone holding a listed role from the filters

An empty list means a stripstaff punishment removes nothing. ,antinuke check flags that as a failure.

Being on the list does not exempt anyone from anti-nuke or anti-raid. For that, use ,antinuke whitelist.

Common issues

I cannot manage the role. The role is above the bot's highest role. Move the bot's role up and add it again.

A stripstaff punishment left a role on. That role is level with or above the bot, or an integration owns it. Move the bot's role above it.

A role I deleted still shows in the list. Run ,staff remove with its ID, or ,staff reset.

My staff aren't exempt from anti-nuke. The list isn't a whitelist. Add them with ,antinuke whitelist.
