Auto-react
Make the bot react to messages that contain a word or phrase you choose, or to the message above them.
Auto-react adds emoji reactions on its own when a message contains a trigger word. Other bots call it autoreact.
Auto-react is Server Premium
Every ,react and ,previousreact
command is gated on Server Premium and needs Manage Messages. Self Premium doesn't open it. See
Premium tiers. The slash form of both lives under /react.
A trigger matches whole words, ignoring case and punctuation: real matches "Real!" but not "really". A phrase matches when its words appear together, in order. Scripts written without spaces, like Japanese, Chinese or Thai, match anywhere in the message.
React to messages that contain a word
,react add takes the emoji, then the trigger. The bot reacts to the message that contains the trigger. You can add several emoji to one trigger.
Syntax
,react add <emote> <word or phrase>
Example
,react add 😂 good morning
On slash, /react add takes the emoji and the word as two options.
React to the message above instead
,previousreact add works the same way, but the reaction lands on the message sent just before the one with the trigger. Someone says "ratio", and the bot reacts to the message just above theirs.
Syntax
,previousreact add <emote> <word or phrase>
Example
,previousreact add 💀 ratio
On slash it is /react previous add. Both lists are kept separately.
Use a custom emoji
The emoji has to be in a server the bot is in. Righteous makes its own copy of it so it can keep reacting even if the original server loses boost slots. If it can't make the copy, the add still works, and the reply tells you the trigger will stop if the original is lost.
If the emoji is deleted from its server, the triggers using it are removed with it.
Manage triggers
The same commands exist for ,previousreact.
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
Shows every trigger and its emoji | |
Shows who added each emoji for one trigger | |
Removes one emoji from a trigger | |
Removes every emoji from one trigger |
Syntax
,react remove <emote> <word or phrase>
Example
,react remove 😂 good morning
Clear everything
No confirmation, no undo
,react reset deletes every ,react trigger in the server at once. ,previousreact reset does the same for its own list.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
Trigger words per list | 15 each for ,react and ,previousreact. More emoji on an existing trigger don't count |
Trigger length | 50 characters |
Reactions per incoming message | 5, shared by both lists. ,react goes first. The same emoji isn't added twice to one message |
Messages from bots never trigger a reaction.
Common issues
It reacted to the wrong message. That's ,previousreact: it reacts to whatever was posted just before the trigger. Use ,react to react to the trigger message itself.
Some emoji never appear. A message can only get 5 reactions from both lists together. Trim overlapping triggers.
The list shows "emote unavailable". Discord reported the emoji as gone, so the bot stopped trying. Remove it and add a working one.
Adding or editing triggers is refused. Every ,react and ,previousreact command needs Server Premium and Manage Messages.
This server already has 15 react keywords. Remove a trigger word you don't use, or add the emoji to an existing one.
