Spotify
Link your Spotify account to control playback, like songs, manage playlists and see your top tracks from Discord.
,spotify (alias ,sp, also /spotify) runs your own Spotify from
Discord. Linking and nearly every action need Self Premium: boosting and Server Premium don't open
it. It also works in DMs and servers Righteous isn't in, if you've added the bot to your account.
Link your account
,spotify login posts an Authorize on Spotify link and a
Login button.
Run the command
Syntax
,spotify login [code]
Authorize on Spotify
Open the link, sign in and press Agree. Spotify sends you to a Righteous page that shows a code.
Paste the code
Press Copy code, then press Login on the bot's message and paste it. On slash, put it in the
auth option instead.
Each code works once and only for a few minutes, and the form closes after 90 seconds. If it's rejected, run the command again for a fresh one.
,spotify logout (Self Premium, so unlink before it lapses) deletes the login Righteous stored and
cancels any sleep timer you had set.
Control playback
Open Spotify on a device first: these act on the device Spotify says is active.
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
Plays a song, a Spotify link, or what an @person is playing | |
Queues a song, album, playlist or an artist's top tracks | |
Skip, go back, pause or resume | |
Toggle shuffle; repeat on, off or track | |
Set the volume, or drop it to 0 | |
Switch device ( device list shows them) |
Syntax
,spotify sleep [30m|1h|off]
Example
,spotify sleep 1h30m
,spotify sleep pauses your Spotify after a delay of 1 minute
to 12 hours, only if something is playing then. It's always your own account, and it survives a bot restart.
Post what you're playing
Syntax
,spotify np [person]
Example
,spotify np
,spotify np shows the track with a progress bar and three
buttons: queue it, like it, or add it to your auto-add playlist. Only you can press them, for 90 seconds, and
they act on your account even on someone else's card. With no auto-add playlist set, Add offers a
picker and lets you save your choice.
A local file greys the buttons out with no explanation. A podcast episode greys them out and says why.
Likes, playlists and history
These are Self Premium too, except playlists and releases (but you still need a linked account).
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
Like or unlike the current track; list liked songs. On slash, /spotify like remove:true unlikes | |
List playlists; view the one playing | |
Add a track to one or more of your playlists | |
Set the playlist the Add button uses ( set, reset, view) | |
Spotify's own most-played; default tracks, last 6 months | |
Recently played | |
New releases, an artist's top tracks, your profile |
Keep your listening private
Syntax
,spotify private
,spotify private toggles private mode. While it's on, other
people get "User is on private mode" for your profile, likes, playlist, playlists, top and recent.
It doesn't hide ,spotify np. ,spotifynp (free, reads your Discord
activity) respects it.
On slash, login, logout, private, autoadd, device and sleep always reply to you alone. The rest
post in the channel unless you set public:false.
Common issues
It says I need Self Premium. Linking and every control need it. Only playlists and releases skip the check.
Login says the code was rejected. Codes work once. Run ,spotify login again and paste a new one.
Play, skip or volume fails. No device is active. Start Spotify on one, or pick it with ,spotify device.
Spotify itself only lets apps control playback on its own Premium accounts.
top or recent can't load. Your link may predate a permission. Run ,spotify logout, then ,spotify login.
recent is also empty while Spotify is in a Private Session.
